Song-Kol, also known as Sonkol, Song-Köl, and Son-Kul, graces the heart of the Naryn region in Kyrgyzstan, nestled amidst the inner spurs of the majestic Tien Shan mountain range. This substantial mountain lake, situated at an impressive altitude of 3016 meters above sea level, enchants visitors with its untouched meadows and the protective embrace of the Sonköltoo and Moldotoo ridges, creating an idyllic haven for eco-tourism enthusiasts.

The lake's shores, characterized by their low, swamped terrain, occasionally adorned with reeds, contribute to the untouched allure of the surroundings. Being glacier-fed, Song-Kol feeds into the Son-Kul river and eventually joins the Naryn river. The lake, typically cloaked in ice from late September to late May, invites exploration through trekking or horseback tours, offering encounters with diverse wildlife. Varieties of fish, including peled and rare carp species, gracefully navigate the waters, accompanied by waterfowl such as the demoiselle crane, mountain goose, black stork, and black-headed giggle.

Song-Kol, a natural masterpiece in itself, undergoes a captivating transformation throughout the day. Its surface, a canvas of vibrant hues, shifts from a saturated blue to a mesmerizing purple-blue, or a lush green, adding to the enchantment of this mountainous jewel.
